Rochelle M. Snyder
Ph.D. Candidate, Political Science
Welcome!
I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I study Congress, representation, and political behavior, with a focus on constituent service and constituent-legislator contact in Congress. My dissertation addresses the role that constituent service plays in connecting constituents with their legislators and shows that asking for help from members of Congress can serve an important expressive function for constituents, although negative partisanship and constituents’ understandings of their own deservingness may disrupt this relationship. In my other work, I explore questions of partisanship, inequality, and representation in both Congress and state legislatures.
